semester one

I am done with my first semester of college. I had a great experience and I am anticipating the spring semester. I met a lot of new girlfriends that I expect to be life long friends (Kelsey, Bianca, Meghan, and Raven). The classes were a real "eye-opener". They were nothing like highschool courses and in some classes 2 exams made up the entirety of my grade. I got my exam grades back and I qualify for Dean's list. Not too shabby :) The main academic flaw I possess is procrastination.

I will wait until the night before..even up until the wee hours of the morning to complete an assignment. I may have known about the assignment a month in advance and I persist on waiting until the last possible moment. Part of growing up and being a young adult is having self-motivation and determination to complete tasks at hand. Adding that to my "to do" list now.. I am determined to actually use a PLANNER next semester. I know it will help me to remain organized and my grades will be probably even better, God-willing.

  1. I feel you on the procrastination thing. Throughout my academic career, I've always struggled with my tenancy to leave my assignments to the last minute. I've always joked that it's because I'm the type of person who "works well under pressure", but the truth is, I don't work that well and the end result I produce isn't as good as it could have been.

Recently, God has shown me that I procrastinate because it gives me an excuse to hide behind. It means I don't have to try very hard, and if I get a grade that isn't that good, I can mentally shrug it off and blame it on doing it at 2am. But this isn't the attitude I'm supposed to have towards my studies (Proverbs 22:29), and it doesn't honour God or my professors at all.

So good luck with your own battle against procrastination. The to do list and the planner are excellent ideas and will definitely help you to get more organised. Hope you go well :).
